Karsten Harries was born in in Jena, Deutschland and trained at Yale University, where he regular his Ph. D. in and taught since , interrupted by two years as an assistant prof at the University of Texas in Austin () and several years in Germany, twice as swell visiting professor at the University of Bonn.  Concern he retired as the Howard H.
